I’m so excited to be sharing Kate and Alex’s Colorado elopement on the blog! These two are the perfect example of doing whatever the heck you want on your wedding day. They didn’t feel the need to stick to traditions that didn’t align with how they envisioned celebrating their love! These lovebirds decided to have the most beautiful sunrise vow ceremony at Red Rock Canyon Open Space followed by an intimate dinner at Lofthouse in Colorado Springs. If you resonate with the non-traditional feel of Kate and Alex’s elopement, keep reading for all of their details and tons of inspiration photos!
Kate and Alex started their day bright and early by heading to Red Rock Canyon Open Space for their private vow ceremony. Being surrounded by nature in Colorado, a place of special importance to them, was a priority on their elopement day. They truly wanted to spend this time together with just each other, reflecting on how far they’ve come as a couple and how excited they were to finally get married! They also had one more thing to celebrate… they were planning on announcing their pregnancy to their friends and family later on that day! It was so dang sweet to see how joyful they were about not just committing their love for each other, but celebrating the new little life they’re bringing into the world.
After they exchanged vows (with their hand painted vow books) at sunrise, we ran around Red Rock Canyon Open Space and took the most stunning portraits of the two of them. I absolutely loved how carefree and ‘go with the flow’ these two were, seemingly not having a care in the world on their elopement day. They intentionally focused on being present instead of worrying about perfection, which makes for the best headspace on such a celebratory occasion. I encourage all couples reading this to embody the same attitude that Kate and Alex did for their wedding or elopement!
After the sunrise portion of their day was over, they went back to their Airbnb until it was time for the next round of wedding festivities. Kate and Alex decided to only invite their closest family and friends, which allowed them to prioritize their elopement-day details! They rented the most beautiful Airbnb, had gorgeous flatlay details (Kate’s mom did all of the hand painting and calligraphy on the invitation suite!), and had a personalized, catered meal for their guests. It was absolutely everything they could have dreamed of and more!
Their intimate wedding ceremony and reception at Lofthouse in Colorado Springs was filled with all of their favorite people. Everyone was so genuinely so dang happy to be celebrating the marriage of Kate and Alex! Once it came time for the family photos, no one was expecting them to announce that they were expecting a baby on the way. Being able to capture the surprise, joy, and excitement on their family’s faces was one of the sweetest moments I’ve had the honor of photographing. I can’t wait to see Kate and Alex embrace this new chapter of their lives together!
