Granby Ranch is a ski resort right outside the town on Granby, Colorado. Although it’s a ski resort, it’s a super popular location for weddings in the spring and summer! There is a mountaintop ceremony spot which is accessed by a chair lift. How cool is this though for out of town guests coming to your wedding? Getting married in the winter? Perfect, you can ski down after your ceremony to the reception!
Granby Ranch is less than 2 hours from Denver. Your out of town guests can fly into Denver and have a gorgeous, scenic drive to the ranch. While you’re in town guests won’t have to travel that far for your stunning Granby Ranch wedding!
They offer in-house catering, and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever seen for wedding guests. I’m talking lobster and steak, it was really that good! There’s lodging and transportation all around Granby Ranch, including really cute VRBO’s. So when it comes to lodging for a Granby Ranch wedding the possibilities are endless for you and your guests. There are also so many activities to do year round at Granby Ranch. So you don’t have to worry too much about entertaining your guests for the weekend!
Sophie and Zach were the definition of go with the flow. They are such a carefree and in love couple. That’s exactly what was needed for this mountain wedding, and really any Colorado mountain wedding in the spring. Their day was truly focused on the union of their marriage. All they cared about was being together and their commitment of love to eachother under God, so much so that nothing else really mattered. In the gallery below, you can see their love radiating in all of the ceremony pictures. They were so excited to commit to each other and that was truly beautiful.
For this Granby Ranch wedding, we were met with every weather element. I’m talking fog, rain, sleet, hail, snow, and sunshine all at different parts of the day. Because of that, a lot of the plans for the day had to be reconfigured. Wedding party photos were especially fun and rapid fire.
When I tell you we had to rapid fire the wedding party photos on top of the mountain, I mean it! We were about to get poured on, so we had to make it as fast as possible. They were all the best sports about it, though. We all felt this looming pressure of the rain to accomplish the best photos for Sophie + Zach. Right as we finished capturing some gorgeous photos, the rain started. We all felt this sense of accomplishment as we ran to take cover.
Because of the wishy-washy weather, the planner waited until the last minute to make the call for the ceremony to be under their reception tent instead of on the mountaintop. (As you’ll see in the gallery below.) It was beautiful nonetheless! During our storm intermission time, the girls were hanging out, singing karaoke in the yurt, and the guys were playing games and chilling. You’ll see some fun photos I got to capture of them in these fun moments in the gallery! Neither Sophie or Zach seemed stressed or frustrated with the multitude of changes due to the weather. They were simply happy to be there and getting married!
Even though their mountaintop ceremony dreams couldn’t come true, they still wanted some mountaintop photos. So we went back up before the reception started to take their portraits together. It was so dreamy with all of the beautiful Colorado spring colors and green Aspen trees. Sincerely, the views were stunning. S + Z were such a pleasure to work with and their day was so beautiful.
